This mini-album is the beginning of a series of songs that Germa has been writing and arranging that explore narratives of the diasporic life.

In Kenbe Fem Germa is particularly keen to explore how folk music is threaded throughout her life’s journey from Haiti, USA and now England. Being a migrant, she has come to identify with various cultures and finds that the best way to celebrate her unique experience of creolisation is through music composition.

Germa Adan writes and performs a tapestry of rich vocal and stringed harmonies, influenced by the overlapping identity with cultures, especially so in the Haitian, American and British folk influences that colour her sound. The superlatives and adjectives stack up and seem all too obvious to give this piece of work the credit it deserves, in short bad poetry would devalue the purity of the project; but lets check them off, haunting, moving, achingly beautiful, soulful, unsettling, emotive, heart-breaking and warmly consoling, a thing of profound beauty- everything a grown-up audience could want from a grown up collection.
